The first Monday of each month, a group of women who are interested in missions, meet at Northside Bible Chapel at 1:30 to 3:00P.M. Our function is to make and/or purchase items which are sent to missionaries to help them in their work for Christ.
This season, we will be sending medical supplies to Kalene Mission Hospital in Zambia, and the Robertson family, also in Zambia. They are missionaries at Sakeji School and they also teach and preach the Bible in surrounding villages.
The medical system in Zambia is very primitive. The workers in this hospital need basic supplies like gauze, bandages, and baby layettes. Mothers often have no clothing for their newborn babies, and so receiving blankets, cloth diapers, and knitted sweater sets are always in demand. Hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies and good used clothing (summer only) are always needed.
We also make "prize baggies" and "card cutouts" to be given as prizes to children.
These items are packed and taken to Markham, and sent from there by container to Zambia, where they will finally arrive at their destination about six months after we have sent them.
